Gravel boards are horizontal barriers, typically made of wood or concrete, installed at the base of a fence or as a foundation for raised beds. Their main purpose is to protect fence panels from moisture damage by preventing direct contact with the ground, soil, or grass. They also help prevent rot, decay, and insect damage, ultimately extending the lifespan of the fence.

Key Features:

Gravel boards are typically secured to the fence posts, either by nailing them to cleats attached to the posts or by slotting them into grooves in the posts.
